Requests & Commissions
Requests
β Requests are free! β A request is anything that's kinda vague, like asking for more thread trackers or a muselist with dropdown elements. Something that you want made publicly available and wouldn't be a big project for me. β Requests are prioritized beneath something I'm already working on and commissions. Essentially, I'll get to it when I can, but I will get to it. β If you want a biosheet, layout, something personalized, or something only you can use, then it would be a commission.
Commissions
β I take all commission payments through my PayPal. You can also consider joining the Patreon for exclusive content or checking out my Ko-Fi Shop for previously exclusive codes! β General Codes $3: Navigations, muselists, playlists, etc. β Personalized Biosheets $15: Images of your character/PB will be included. β Extras:β Journal Layouts $45: Includes icon page, tag page, archive, and mobile friendliness. β Editing Existing Layouts $30: If you want something that's already around personalized for your purposes.β Plurk Layouts $50: Can include animated effects, specialized dash, dark mode appearance, etc. The Chrome extension Plurk Jailbreak is recommended to make the layout look as intended but is not necessary. β Game Info Pages $80: Includes navigation, premise, rules/faq, applications, reserves, hiatus/drop, event templates, mod comment templates, taken, player contact, locations/businesses/employment, abilities/traits, profiles, advertisements, and anything else that your game may need. If you only need certain pages overhauled and not the whole package, we can work out a price on a case-by-case basis. β Larger Commissions $90+: Game apps, websites, front-end UI/UX design, back-end database setups, etc etc. Price varies based on a case by case basis and I give no guarantees that I'll take your commission. But if you have an idea of something you want to get done beyond the scope of DreamWidth, I can probably help you. Largely depends on my skillset and free time. If you want examples of the things I do, check out my GitHub. |

- the background and "box" of content
- the same shift from desktop width to mobile width
- probably the same header and body text styling?
- I'd thought of maybe going in the direction of pinky reds or purples for dark mode as well, but I'm not 100% on colour theory!
- I think single column would be fine, because a simple site seems to make the most sense.
- for basic navigation (home page, instructions/rules. link to sign up, check in/out, and posting order? - down the line we might make the sign up/check-in/out and posting orders pages?) would copying the little rectangles from the dreamwidth navigation make sense? Or is there a better approach?
- the one downside to neocities over carrd is that you have to bring your own social icons - any chance you could help with the social icons we currently use on the carrd? https://shiritori.carrd.co/
- for the home page, I'll aspirationally put the "history" stuff on fanlore, so that page won't have much on it (in case that makes a difference for styling/layout decisions) but I'll probably add a "quickstart" guide to the home page as a kind of about
- the rules, on the other hand, are pretty long (https://zoos-take-r6p.craft.me/Yr3FY98laTpb9j) so a long page should probably look okay too (I'll probably add a table of contents at the top and use anchor links)
- I'd mentioned a code layout and static post (conceptually like what you have on this community) for the dreamwidth and then forgot to pick up on it again - is it possible to do something that will be a grid of 2 by 2 on desktop but flex or somthing so that it's 1 by 4 (so, vertical column) on mobile? Also, I'm not sure --it's probably best to just have those be litle blurbs and links to full posts (or even tags, like we currently have in the sidebar), rather than having the information there (?) - especially since it would be too long. I'm probably not making much sense - would it be helpful if I drew it or found a similar concept on dreamcodes?
Thank you as always!

Anyway! About Neocities! Replying to your points in no particular order:
- re: dark mode. I can work with reds/purples for the dark mode. There is some color theory that goes into it but we can totally work with that for an overall theme.
- re: navigation. I could duplicate the links at the top of the layout easily, yes. However, with it being so many links, we might want to stretch the navigation across the page more, like a bar or something. I'll play with designs and see what looks best.
- re: icons. I found most of the icons over on one of the libraries I use, Simple Icons. The only one I can't seem to find is Dreamwidth. I'll keep looking, but I can still easily replace it with a similar looking icon.
- re: content lengths. The pages will be dynamic so that you can add as much or as little as you want. With the rules being long, using anchor links is a great idea. For that one particularly (or for every page), I could add a floating "top of page" link in the corner somewhere for easy access.
- re: site layout. I totally forgot about the static post. But making things flexible from 2x2 to 1x4, yes, that's totally do-able. As for the actual content, maybe we can play with a few designs and see what looks nicer/what's easiest for you to update and go from there. If you do see a concept you want to go for, though, links or pictures would be helpful. I'm so bad at visualizing ideas, lol. Also, you mentioned wanting a single column up above, and I think that's with everything in one space? Like columns within the column? Sorry, just want to make sure I'm picturing it right.
Regardless, I'll start working on this and get back to you in the coming days with a mock-up. β₯

for the static post: Thank you for your questions! I took some time to look at different examples (part of the delay; I'm sorry!) so I have a better idea of what I was thinking about.
-I realized that we'd only need three "elements" but it would be great to have them go from three in a row landscape on desktop (if that fits?) to three in a column on mobile, and after looking at some dreamcodes pages it seems like flex does allow for that, so that would be really neat!
- For what we need to present, it would be a reshuffle and sign ups element (which I might toggle between just sign ups & reshuffle and sign ups, but that would be on me), a posting order element, and a rules" element. (I've linked to our relevant tag on the community.) The images I've used on the posts would maybe be too large, so if that's the case I would re-edit them to size/dimension once that's set.
- I like the collapsible element of your [50] Dropdown Navigation, and the way the click-elements on PEEPERS, a collapsing muse list code (via dreamcodes) are images. What I tentatively envisioned was an image for each of the three elements, with code styling in a manner that complements the dreamwidth community layout. When clicked, each element would expand to provide a small blurb and link. So, in the case of the rules, the amount of text (just to roughly determine what would look good) would be what the dreamwidth profile bio has + a little bit) and a link to the full rules page on neocities. For reshuffle and sign ups, a little blurb and links to both forms. For posting order, a little blurb and links to the team list and sonic list.
- It would be nice if the links in the exanded blurb could be styles so they're more "button-like" if that makes sense.
- for styling, the way there's a frame around the userpics on the dreamwidth layout, and the way iOS has cute blue buttons for log in and search in the dw site nav might be helpful starting design elements? but if you've thought of something else I'd be very glad to see that!
Bringing it all around, is that something that would be feasible for the static post?
back to neocities:
- dark mode: reds/purples sounds great!
- nav: I could duplicate the links at the top of the layout easily, yes. However, with it being so many links, we might want to stretch the navigation across the page more, like a bar or something. I'm good with whichever seems better!
- icons: the simple icons look great! for dreamwidth, depending on the colour-scheme I could do a transparent icon that we could just host, or I'm not sure if it's possible to copy the svg from carrd (https://shiritori.carrd.co/) Or a subsitution of course! (the abbot logo looks surprisingly like a d, or the swirl of the dreamstime is a bit reminiscent)
- content lengths: sounds good! a floating top of page would be really nice.
thank you again! (And please let me know if/when we exceed the initual quote, as I know this is a lot of work!)

Do you mean a custom sticky post like what this layout has? Or a sort of overlay on the layout? I also wasn't sure if this was for Neocities or the DW blog. Sorry, I got confused somewhere along the way.
I'll get started on the Neocities site very soon and let you know about my progress when I get the ball rolling.
As for the initial quote, I do think it's going over that, yeah. I'll let you know as soon as I can about the increase. Again, I'm new with most of this so I'm trying to make it a fair price for both of us. Thank you for your patience about it.

I think the length of the navigation bar on the top may be fine as is, but I'll see how it looks after we add the correct links to it.
Also wanted to know if you wanted to keep the sidebar like in the original layout. And if you did, where did you want to put the social media links? I was originally thinking in a footer but wanted to ask first.
Lastly, as for that static post, sorry I got confused again. I looked back and remembered that it is about a custom sticky post in the journal. @.@ I got lost somewhere, lol.

Absolutely understandable!
I think I've gotten a little confused about the sticky post too as we've gone along; so many juggling balls in the air! Despite my late reply, I've been thinking a bit these past few days to get it all sorted, and I wonder if it would be possible to do a sticky post (like what you linked in your comment) - maybe with the same kind of simple outline as the layout and/or the userpic frames?
Separate from that, I realized that I was thinking of a custom code, as I described in my comment above. However, I realize that I didn't explain that properly in the original ask, so (apart from the neocities extra work/hours of course), I realize this would be an extra cost! In thinking about this, I'd like to put the custom code in the sticky post, but I understand those are different things. Would it be helpful if I sketched the custom code?
As for the neocities, it looks great! (And familiar is perfect :D )
I think the length of the navigation bar on the top may be fine as is, but I'll see how it looks after we add the correct links to it.
Makes sense!
About the sidebar, I'm not quite sure. I think, mobile-adapting-wise, it might be easier to not have a sidebar, but what do you recommend? Social media links would definitely work in a footer!
no subject
Re; the custom code! I'm finally on the same page as you, lol. This is totally do-able. I'll probably have to send you a little snippet to add on to your layout code, but it'll be fine otherwise. If you don't mind doing a little sketch of what you're picturing for the code itself, I'd really appreciate it. As for placement of the post, would you like it to be with the rest of the entries but stylized different or somewhere else entirely, like between the navigation links and the entries/sidebar area?
Re; Neocities! I'm really glad you like the design! I was hoping it wasn't too much of the same, lol, but I'm glad it's working for you so far. c:
As for what I recommend about the sidebar, I think that depends on how much important info you think will be needed in there. If you have a lot of info that can be summed up in short form, a lot of links, highlights for certain members, awards/contests/announcements, or even a sign-in mechanic/chatroom widget, then a sidebar would work great. If you just have social media links and the like, then it's not really necessary. In fact, at that point, it'll probably just add clutter.
For now, I can make the sidebar an optional tool. That way you can see what this will look like with and without it. I could also go a step further and have it so you can toggle it into existence or something yourself in the future, in case you decide you want it/don't want it later on.
no subject
A snippet to add onto the code sounds good! It took me longer to reply because I tried to mock something up in figma and realized that was a bad idea (it was taking me way too long) so I did something up in sketches; I hope it makes sense?
I had two ideas: idea one would be if the pinned post could stretch across the top maybe:
If not, it could just be inline with the other posts:
Either way, maybe a double line border or light blue background or something harmonious with the layout could distinguish it?
Of course, on mobile, it would probably look the same either way (primary sidebar stuff, pinned post, other posts, then secondary sidebar stuff).
For the code snippet, I think (?) it's possible to have floating divs be side by side in desktop, then tile on mobile, based on the code examples I linked earlier, but I'm not a pro at inline css so if it's not please let me know! I'd described the code in a previous comment but the rough layout idea is:
mobile:
desktop:
On to the website, we pretty much just have social links and maybe a link to team order lists, so I think you're right about keeping it more streamlined. An option tool sounds good though, as we might end up needing it later.
I realize that you may have (likely) moved onto other things in the meantime so whenever you have time! Also, please let me know when we've exceeded the $140 and what I should top up, with the website developing and how I didn't explain about the pinned post and post code.
no subject
First off, about the pinned post code, this looks great. I can totally stretch it across the top, yes, and I should easily be able to change the bits inside from vertical to horizontal depending on screen width. Because of the nature of inline-CSS, it may sometimes try to make two rows of 2 and 1 instead of one row of 3 or three rows of 1 (I really hope that makes sense). I'm going to try to make it so it doesn't do that, but I'm not sure there are ways to prevent it on a site like Dreamwidth that only uses HTML and CSS.
I'll make a little mock-up soon and get back to you with this! It shouldn't take me long to put together. :)
Now the website! I'll have the sidebar removed by default, but will also make sure there's a way for you to easily add it back in again.
Lastly, the money! I think I'll feel more confident if I give you that quote once we're all done, that way I can factor in time spent and things like that. Everything feels very straightforward so far, but I know from experience that unforeseen problems can cause a headache out of nowhere, and I haven't really started on the main part of the website yet (ie, how the posts work, how you'll be able to add more, how people will be able to view them, etc.). I'm sorry I'm not being very upfront about a specific price again, but I don't want to give you too low or (WORSE) too high a number before we're done.
Anyway, thank you for your patience. I'm sorry this is taking so long to finish up. Again, I hope you feel better soon! I'll be in contact shortly about that pinned post code!
no subject
Unfortunately, despite my big talk, I don't think I can stretch it across the top, after all. This is what I have so far on the layout side of things. I'm going to keep working with it, but I think trying to put it across the top is going to do more harm than good, because the height won't be dynamic. Meaning, if the post ends up being smaller or taller than the limits I put in (or if you remove the sticky entry entirely), then everything else will end up staying where it is, making huge gaps or overlaps. This is because of how I had to set up the layout in the first place for the navigation links.
I also tried to just stretch it across the white space it's in, but the sidebar doesn't want to move much. It's the same problems/reasons for stretching this post across the top, too. The thing is, I totally feel like there is a way to do this right, but it'll probably require a good overhaul of how the layout is set up.
If I can't figure it out, I can scale down the entry code to fit better. Sorry for hitting such a ridiculous problem, lol. Let me know what you think of this look for the layout, though, and I'll keep fighting with it. o7
EDIT: Oh, sorry, one more thing about the entry code itself. When you click to expand the text for each block, I have two different styles. The first block has the links as buttons and the second/third has them as blocks. Let me know which ones you like best! Thanks!

This sticky post looks great! I do have a question as to whether it would be possible to reduce the margin (? not sure what the space between the edge of the screen and the element is called) on mobile, per this screenshot:
But I completely understand if thatβs not possible.
I also completely understand that it wonβt work out to stretch the sticky post across the top; the slight shading from the screenshot looks great, and since I know that people are accessing the community from different sized screens (like me on nicely mobile), I absolutely defer to your advice on that!
(What Iβve discovered for discord-hosted images is that even if the link is expired, if you post the link in a private discord server (like I have one just for discord bookmarks etc.) it works to see the image. And if thatβs a privacy or security concern, I figured youβd rather know!)
Iβm glad you mentioned about blocks & buttons because I would have missed it! Iβm a little torn because I really like the buttons, but Iβm guessing that the blocks will probably work better for variable link text lengths.
Thank you again!

I should totally be able to adjust the widths of the boxes for your sticky entry. I can make them dynamic so that they'll adjust to the screen width instead of static the way they are now. It should look nicer on mobile, too.
(Thanks for the tip about discord images! I had no idea about that lol)
I'll make the finishing touches to the sticky entry code and send it to you when I can. I'm a bit under the weather atm, so it'll take a couple of days.
Now, I believe we were working on a journal layout in addition to the website itself, if I remember correctly? I'm going to dig through my files, look through our previous conversations, and get back to work on all of those. I should have more progress by the time I have that code ready for you.
Thanks!
no subject
(Glad to hopefully help with that!)
I'm sorry to hear you're under the weather; I hope you feel better soon! I'm very happy to wait for the schedule that works for you (and especially after my tardiness).
The website example/conversation mostly starts in this comment, so I hope that helps! The layout is done except for the sticky post & the related sticky entry code (in use here at

I've got the codes together for the sticky entry (both for the code itself and the little add-on for your layout). I'll DM them to you in just a moment.
A note about the code, though, I wasn't able to make the margins any smaller. I actually ended up having to increase them. This is because they're going into such a narrow post on your journal, to make them all fit in-line on as many screens as possible. It's still dynamic so they'll be larger (and the margins smaller) when viewed on the entry page itself, though.
Feel free to take the codes for a whirl and let me know what you think of them. We can still tweak them here and there once we see how they work in practice.
About the website! I'm going to jump back on that horse as soon as possible and have more results for you very soon. Thank you! β₯

Codes received! I ran out of time to fully do the sticky post again today, but I have it set up and started. My laptop screen being a strange width struck again:
But if it's most likely just my weird screen dimensions being an exception then I can totally live with it.
As I mentioned, I didn't have a chance to properly fill them out yet, which is why the post isn't public, but it's looking really great!
And re the website; please take your time! I know that was a whole other area.
no subject
But anyway! Back to the code. It's definitely screen dimensions, but I also want it to look as good as possible for you. We can try making the boxes themselves smaller or even going the (maybe overboard?) route of just widening the entire primary section of the layout. Going in either direction, we shouldn't have to adjust it by much if you wanna try those things. Otherwise, I like the images you're using for it. The whole thing's looking good so far. :)
no subject
The site looks really great! I like the clean lines and simplicty and how it's harmonious with the DW layout.
- I don't think we'll need to add an icon or username since it will be more of an admin/info page.
- The border looks great!
- On mobile it might be helpful to not show any of the grey background (is that a viewport override?) because it's a little narrow - I know the whole design is still in progress though! (How the dw layout works on mobile is really nice width-wise.)
I didn't have time to fill out the code on the live site ;; I do think that widening the entire primary section of the layout might be a bit overboard, though perhaps widening it a little might be generally helpful regardless? Or maybe, perhaps more usefully, it could flip from desktop view to mobile view sooner?
On mobile, the blocks are still a little narrow; I'm not sure if it's possible to let them fill the whole width (to a max so that on desktop it stops at the set width):
These are all small things though! I am really liking how this looks a lot :D
no subject
For dreamwidth: I can change it to mobile view quicker, yes. Thinking about it, I should be able to also add some code to the layout's CSS that'll just change your sticky entry code and make it single column/wider. I'm surprised I didn't think of it before now, but I can get on that and send it to you soon, probably by tomorrow.
Thanks for the response! And for the heads up that you're heading out for a bit. I hope it's for good things and you have a good time, lol. β₯
no subject
First thing, go into the sticky entry's code itself and add this in to the very first line of code: class="stickyCustom"
It'll look like:
div class="stickyCustom" style="...
Then you go into your layout's CSS and add this bit to the bottom:
If you feel like it's adjusting to a single column style too soon, you can change the "1000px" down to something like "800px" or so. Anyway, give that a whirl when you can and let me know how it goes!
no subject
Anyway, I have now tested the class and CSS and they're working great! I ended up switching the 1000px to 1330px actually, since on my desktop at least, that's when it switches from three columns side by side to two columns, so I redirected that to single column. I'll have to check with others what their screens do though. But I think that it's sorted! (just a matter of tweaking that pixel width if needed)
And adjusting for mobile as the last step makes sense!

I'm working on some deadlines myself, at the moment, but I'll be back to touch base about updates on the site sometime next week. :) Just letting you know!

It's been a long time. At first I was waiting for you to get back to me, but then life got a little busy with another website project and vacation time. I'm back now, though, and was wondering if you were still interested in this project. Please reach out when you get the chance. Thank you!

Whenever you get the chance, take a look at the messages I sent you before. I think one of the example links is broken now, but I can send you another later. There's no rush on this from my end. I was just checking in to make sure everything was okay. Thanks! β₯
